A day at the Aquarium

Today we went into SLC and met Mama Anne, Uncle Jon, Aunt Denise, Uncle Mark, and the other Aunt Denise, Aunt Maren, Uncle Dave and ALL the cousins at the Living Planet Aquarium. It was a big Wexels party at the Aquarium!

We spent most of the afternoon looking at all sorts of fish, frogs, and other fun things that swim in the water.

We went to a little class on Coral Reefs, and the kids got to play games and touch some of the different corals, and also a couple of sharks.

We also played in one of the pools, and touched fish and Sting Rays. Keric actually seemed somewhat interested in the big lighted pools full of fish, but he was not having any of the touching of things! I don't think he appreciated how cold the water was. It was also a little deep, and hard to get his little hand in there to touch much anyway.

We had a really fun afternoon with all the cousins! It was a nice way to spend yet ANOTHER Rainy weekend!

Hi Bubby!

Uncle Dave, Bubby,(yes, with his Ba-ba!) Owen, Cameron and Rylan ready for the Coral Reef Class.

In the little Coral class they had these really cute little Nemo costumes that the kids could put on. I tried to put one on Bubby and he was SO MAD about it! Guess there goes THAT Halloween Costume idea!

Swimming Pool

I love the cool weather that we have been having, and heaven knows we need the moisture, but I was getting a little tired of the rain every single day!!

Keric got a little swimming pool for his birthday and I have been wanting to take him outside to play in it for awhile now. I decided today that if we had had dry weather until 1:00 p.m. or so, I would set up his little pool for him to play in after his nap.

Thankfully we had no rain! I was a little concerned while I was outside blowing up the pool and the wind started blowing, but by the time it was all set up, and Bubby was in his swim suit, it was fairly nice again.

I filled up the pool with warm water, so it was basically like he was taking a bath. He loved it! Chompie even joined him for a little while, but I think it was too much LIKE a bath, so he promptly got out.

We splashed around and played for quite awhile until the water got a little too cold and Bubby's diaper got a little too water logged!

We came inside, and dried off. I put a little towel around Bubby while I went to get him a new diaper, and when I turned back around he was standing up posing in his towel!

I don't know where I got this funny boy, but I'm sure glad I have him!

Happy 3rd Anniversary!

Yesterday was Chris and my third anniversary. Hard to believe it has already been three years ago! Seems like yesterday we got married, but then in lots of other ways seems like we've always been together!

We did our "big" celebration on Monday. We had dinner at the Cheescake Factory. I love that place! I've NEVER had anything "bad" there, and it's one of the only places that I'm excited to have something NEW at, rather than stick with my "usual". Bubby and I drove to SLC to meet up with Chris. We took Bubby with us, since Chris' mom had to work, and Denise was out of town. He is a good eater, and actually a really good baby, so it was fun to have him. He always keeps us entertained! Chris had these beautiful roses for me, and we got to sit outside on the patio for dinner! It was such a nice night! It was really a nice diner! We had a really nice waitress that even brought him a little baby plate full of pieces of different breads, and slices of bannanas. He loved it of course!

Yesterday we had Cameron and Reagan with us, so we did a little family celebration. I made a little Anniversary Cake, as you can see, it doesn't compare to Chris' cakes, which is exactly why I am totally fine giving him the birthday cake responsibility! It tasted lots better than it looked! We also had Pizza for dinner, Chris and the kids' favorite dinner, and then we had cake and Spumoni ice-cream for dessert. I have kind of a fond memory of Spumoni ice-cream. It was the ice-cream that the spaghetti factory served at our wedding lunch, so I thought it would be fun to have it with our cake.

It was a very nice couple of days, and I look forward to MANY more anniversarys to come!

1 Year Check-Up

We were a little late getting into the Dr. for this check- up. He is technically still within the 12 month window, but he's getting closer to 13! Wow!

Keric did great at his appointment. I was really surprised that he didn't weigh more! He feels like he weighs 30 lbs, but not so. I was sad that his picture didn't come out. They had this really ugly green and purple furry thing above the scale for the kids to look at and help them stay still, and Bubby was afraid of it! So his picture is not great, but oh well.

He is a little light for his age, but not too bad. I guess he is just kind of stalky. I hope he didn't inherit MY height, and that he gets a little taller.

We of course weren't surprised by that his head size was almost off the charts!! Jeez, the poor kid! I think he is 11 lbs head and 11 lbs everything else! All those brains right?

All in all he is catching up to kids his age fairly quickly. We were able to tell his Dr. that he is finally crawling, and semi-standing, but no walking as of yet. She suggested that we work a little more with him on the walking, he is about two months give or take behind and also that we take the bottles away, and start him on Sippy Cups.

The next day I did as she suggested, took all the bottles out of the cupboards and replaced them with sippy's. I should have known he wouldn't go down without a fight, I just didn't think it would be this big of a fight!

He went almost an entire day without drinking anything! He flat our refused to have anything to do with the Sippy cup. Chris even tried putting some Hershey's Syrup on the nipple part to get him to start sucking on it, but all he did was suck the chocolate syrup off and then throw the cup. All throughout the day as soon as he would see me with his sippy cup in hand he would start shaking his head No, and holding his hands up to block me from putting the cup up to his mouth. It was getting to the point where I'm sure he was dehydrated! He had like one wet diaper all day long! I gave him a drink out of a regular cup, which was a little more welcomed, but WAY messy!!! I think he got more on him, than in him.

After about a day and a half of all of this, I decided that it just wasn't worth it! I mean my child has NEVER done anything on time, why would I expect this to be any different. I should know by now that he does things in his own way, and on his own schedule!

I shed a few tears over it, but I got over myself. It's just a stupid bottle, he's only 1, not 5! So we are back to having bottles (mainly at nap time or at bed time), lots more wet diapers, and a much quieter house and happier Mommy!

Crawling Bubby

This is really not a very good quality video, and of course the video that really doesn't NEED sound, is the one that downloads with it. So I apologize again for you having to hear me in the background. The video was meant for Chris, but I wanted to show you all my "proof" that Keric is slowly getting there!

Today as I was doing laundry Bubby was doing his usual sitting on the bed and playing with clothes and his new favorite toy hangers. We have decided Bubby is headed for the dry cleaning business. :) Anyway, I went to hang up the clothes and when I came back I noticed he was almost crawling to get to a hanger I had at the end of the bed. So I moved the hanger farther away from him and watched him. He isn't a perfect crawler by any means, in fact it's looks a lot like those Army guys you see moving on their stomachs under barbed wire or something, but the point is that he did it, and he did it more than once! I was so excited,

I'm thinking that maybe it will be very soon that my little man will crawl for reals!! Yikes! I may not be as ready for that as I think! :)

Happy Birthday Cam

Wednesday was Cameron's 9th birthday, and the last day of school. He got to have a little class birthday party along with all the fun things that happen on the last day of school. After school he got to go to lunch with his Mom, and then after he came home we got ready for his Family party.

He chose to have pizza for dinner, so I picked up some pizza's from Papa Murphy's. Chris did a soccer cake this year. It of course turned out really cute!

These kids of mine are getting way too old WAY TOO FAST! Geez!

My new Hair Do

For as long as I can remember I always wished I had really long beautiful hair. Chris has always liked my hair long, so after we got married, I just let it grow. Well...we are going on 3 years now, and my hair was undoubtedly long, but it was far from beautiful! It was getting to the point where I was just putting my hair up in a pony tail everyday, and it was as Reagie used to say "A no sessy!"

I also wasn't really enjoying my hair being YANKED, not just pulled, by bubby all the time. He was using my hair to pull himself up to a standing position!

So today I had had enough! I called Shannon and asked her if I could get my hair done today, and I had her whack it off. She took almost 10 inches off of it! I wasn't even sad when I saw the long ponytail in the garbage!

So this is my new hair-do. I feel much less "frumpy" and a little more of a "hip" Mom now. I was a little nervous for Chris to see it when he got home from work, but he actually really likes it! WHEW! :) Thanks again Shannon!
